The inaugural program of the three-day PICO Satellite and Drone Launch Event was successfully held at the Science City in Ahmedabad on 27th April 2023. The event was attended by students from 10 government schools in the area, along with 10 teachers. The event was inaugurated by Dr. T S Joshi, Advisor to Secretary Primary Education, Government of Gujarat (ex GCERT Director), Mr. Shanker D Sharma, Project Director of DEEP Shaala, DE, AIF, Dr. VK Jain and Dr. B D Mehta, both retired ISRO Scientists from SAC Ahmedabad, Prof. Abhishek Rawat and Prof. Ajit Kumar, both professors at IITRAM Ahmedabad, and several others.
During the event, the team of scientists from ISRO exhibited models of Pico satellites, while the team from IITRAM showcased various types of drones and taught students about drone making and simulation. Mr. Jithin B P, CEO of CSpark Ltd, conducted a sensors-based session, and the students’ engagement was conducted by the team of ISIE. The event was also attended by representatives from TSU Gandhinagar, Atlassian, Amazon AFE, and L&T Vadodara.
The students had the opportunity to receive hands-on training and a first-hand experience in PICO satellite and drone development. The event will continue for two more days, with the final launch event planned on 27th April 2023.
